Some Moving…..

There is a bit of transitioning that has been going on behind the scenes, which is part of the reason that I have not been available to post.  Real life had danced with illnesses back to back, exams, and other things.  Its been a two month over run, so to speak.  April will still be filled and May I will have some time freed up for virtual wonders and games.

I will write more as I can.  For now, please take note the the blog is moving to my domain as I am centralizing my content.  You can find it at – the content here will be shut down at the end of the month.  I am moving away from the NVhe name, because there are three real life entities that use Nvhe as their initials.  To avoid confusion, I will be re-branding old content and releasing new content under the name neoma.  I am changing strategies with my content release as well, so that it is available to Open Sim as well as the virtual world of Second Life.

Until then…..look for the rest of the blogs to appear at the new address.  😀

Virtual World Drama

It has been an awesome real life day.  I had just finished checking my email after getting home from a great unplanned dinner with my Mom.  I love her so much!  Anyway, in my email I get these messages that were sent to me by someone that was aggravated by my partner.  I have to address this issue because it happens so often in virtual worlds for some reason.

If you have an issue with someone, telling their partner to pass messages to them is NOT the way to handle the situation.  Please take the time to talk or discuss the matter with the person you have an issue with – directly.  If they are offline, well, wait until they are online or just send a message and get the ball rolling.

This person was upset because my partner apparently was in their house.  Sheesh, I am sure it was a mistake, but you know, I was not there.  He doesn’t normally just pop into people’s places for the fun of it.  O.o  Nevertheless, it is not my issue and I am not his Momma.

So I did what most probably won’t do and sent a message thanking them for their messages (as lovely as they were – not!) and telling them to deal with him directly.  I will not do message passing because it is just silly.  I mean, think about it.  You are telling on an adult to another adult.  What is the expectation here?  Do you honestly think that an adult has that much control over another adult.  Am I expected to yell at him as if he were a five year old that crossed a boundary line?  What is honestly the deal here?

At the end of the day, regardless if it is real life, a game or a virtual world life, you need to deal directly with the person that you have an issue with and resolve it with that person.  No one else is responsible.  Just because someone is related, partnered, married, significant other or a friend does not mean they should be involved in the mix.  It just creates unnecessary drama between people that had nothing to do with the initial issue to start with.

I know I am ranting, but this is the sort of thing that annoys me.  Life has enough issues regardless of what realm it happens to exist within.  Things are much more simpler if  they are dealt with the person that has an issue instead of the person, their cousin, uncle and a friend.  Hopefully, this person will understand my message back to them, but somehow I suspect that they won’t.

Paradise in the Sky

Recently I replaced my skybox with a new one.  The old one was nice, but it was too much like my real life home.  It was not encouraging me to relax or be creative.  So out I went to find something new.  In a matters of moments I had found a series of paradises.  I love it! It has the sound of the ocean and waterfall, birds singing and flying in the air and the beautiful scenery.  It even has an underground water cave, perfect for my mermaid tendencies.  Yep ~ I have a beautiful fishbowl!  Giggles!

Skybox Paradise
On the beach area, there is a wonderful campfire where I can sit myself down while I study or design.  I am planning on getting back into designing again.  This will be a bit of an adventure filled with moments of frustration as I have to reteach myself how to draw.  It may bring back the hand as it is responding very slowly and some functioning has come back.  Still a long way yet to go.

Enjoying the campfire

New Eyes In Creation

I wanted to create a set of eyes for my mermaid avatar.  I studied various eyes of fish and underwater creatures.  At first it was none to interesting, until I figured out that pictures do not actually pick up the colors very well.  My trip to the Mystic Aquarium this summer was part of an exploration in a study on fish eyes.  Some are very pretty.  Unlike anything I have seen before.

It is hard to imagine what a mermaids eyes would be like.  I do not agree with the standard viewpoint of what a mermaid would look like to start with.  Anything living under the water has to have skin that can survive under the water for long periods of time.  Human skin will actually fall apart after a while.  It was not designed to be immersed in water for extremely long periods of time.  The idea that a mermaid would have the same type of breasts or breasts at all just doesn’t sit with me very well.  But hey, that is the fantasy in this creature as well.  LOL!

At any rate, I wanted to create eyes that reflect the depth of the ocean and seas, the darkness that exists in the deep and the exciting colors that appear. I have made these eyes as my sample eyes and have been tweaking them.  Now its time to create variations with color. What do you think?

Hiding by neoma vasilia
Hiding, a photo by neoma vasilia on Flickr.

Its been a while since I had spent time in Second Life. I have been just logging in here or there to take care of my tenants. I saw some people walking around the parcel, so I ducked into the high grasses to hide.

To my surprise, more and more people are taking walks around the parcel and just hanging out on it. Some were taking pictures, which is pretty cool. I would love for NVhe to become a spot people want to simply hang out at and enjoy.

The traffic was unexpectedly higher than normal as well. I can’t complain! Its an awesome thing. Now to get reacquainted with everyone.

The Other Side

The tunnel was interesting to travel through. It was a little scary, being that it is one of those areas that it is easy to get trapped within. As much fun as it can be, we typically try to avoid those. Nevertheless. The other side of the tunnel has some interesting things.

The underground is more developed, with stairs and buildings leading to the surface. I can only think that there must be some merfolk around here that socialize or live with the humans here. Why else would such a set up exist? I have yet to see a mermaid swim in these waters as of yet.

The surface here is amazing. These tunnels and pathways with elegant arches are stunning! They are very fun to play in as well!

Passing through the archways, there seems to be some sort of fire room. Maybe it is a temple or a flame that burns for one of the human gods. I had to keep jumping to get a good look at it. Fortunately, there were no humans around to see me leaping in and out of the water.

Unchartered Seas

I have not been back to what one would call my home area in quite a while.   Hopefully no one is looking for me.  I doubt they are.  In the world under the sea, it can be very dangerous.  Life can change in a simple moment.  There are no true safe boundaries that one can hide in for protection.  Sometimes there is more danger in where one chooses to hide then in what one is trying to hide from.

Yet, we get used to it.  I have grown accustomed to the fact that I have to be aware at every corner, turn, cave and hollow.  Even the sands hide secrets in the sea and not all of them are helpful or beneficial to staying alive.  Here the survivor is the fastest, the strongest and the most intelligent.  Intelligence can get you far, but only if you are up against something less intelligent.  We may look different under the sea, but do not underestimate even the simplest of creatures.

Still, none of this has deterred me from exploring the world in which I have come to be.  I am here.  I need to understand it fully.  The colors are amazing and vibrant.  There are deep tones as well as brightly colored ones.  All each with a purpose.  Still, the beauty hides dangers.  Pirates have been in these seas.  I have come to learn their symbols, of which they have many.  Its best to watch from afar and keep your distance.

Hidden off to the side is a strange path that leads right through the most beautiful tunnel I have seen. Strange to see something like this. I wonder how it came to be. The walls are crystal. I can not imagine the force that would have had to happen to create this. I carefully swam through it hoping that there was nothing dangerous on the other side. It was this way or attempt to swim through the pirate area that is filled with renegade death traps.

A Trip to the Surface

My friends have spent less time keeping an eye on me. I tend to swim out into the depths frequently, exploring and finding new things. Just watch out for the treasure chests. The ghost pirate has them all set so they will kill anything that draws near to it.

It was another late night. All the Merfolk were settled in their homes sleeping away. I decided to take another trip to the surface. Shhhh! Do not tell my friends. They would be most upset. It is how many Mer’s get hurt. Humans are actually rather cruel when it comes to their curiosities about other creatures. The best time to go to the surface is under the darkness when all the humans are sleeping or occupied and the first dawning of the sun. Most do not get out during these hours.

Their ships are very interesting, especially when they live in the houses on the shoreline. Empty ships have a very specific sound to them. Almost like the bellies of the ship have nothing inside. I usually speed swim in this area, because humans are so very prevalent here. I decided to do a little underwater exploring of what was below. I usually hit the surface, get my fill and swim back to home.

There is much strangeness in the sea here. Buildings and stairs exist under the water. Almost as if they lived here too. I know that sounds crazy, but it is not really used much that I can see. Unless, maybe, there is another set of Merfolk that live in these parts. Still it does not explain the need for stairs leading out of the water. Curious! You know I had to go check!

The sun had started exposing the wonders of the world. It is just a basic dock. There seems to be a fisherman’s business right on this dock. It is probably one to watch carefully. I noticed while looking around that my skin has changed much since being under the sea. Still its fine for me. What is a Mer to do as things change?

Strange Creature Encounter ~ A Mer in Making

I was visiting one of my favorite Mer locations and encountered a rather unique and interesting being. I am not sure how she came to be. I wonder if she was half eaten or maybe involved in some sort of accident, but it seems half of her is missing.

She was so very curious to me, we spoke for a moment. She is a Mer in the making. Everyone develops differently it seems. Some are born as Mer, others of us are a curiosity of magical change. I do think that the secrets at the bottom of the sea have much to do with it. When I was a land lover, I used to think that those lost to the sea were in fact dead. Now I know that some of us, if not all, simply grow. We are not lost but for the initial moment of the transition.

So here we witness the beginnings of a Mer in the making. There are some amazing things to be found within the depths of the sea.

A Sneaky Moment

Not to long ago, IEVL was standing in his building on his parcel that neighbors mine.  I popped over for a quick visit to discover he was away from the keyboard playing that real life game.  Honestly, it can be so addicting!

I grabbed a few pictures while he was gone.  I now see how short I really am by Second Life standards.  We were overlooking my parcel.  I have to say, I do like the view.  When he came back, I let him know I snuck a couple of snaps.
